It’s important for a union member to be prepared for an election because unions often face important decisions, such as electing leaders or voting on contracts, that impact their working conditions, wages, benefits, and job security. Being informed and prepared ensures that they can participate in a way that reflects their values and needs. This also allows them to advocate for their rights, strengthen solidarity among members, and influence the direction of the union’s goals. An informed vote leads to stronger leadership and better collective bargaining power for the entire workforce.
