Bell Let’s Talk Day – Starting the Conversation Matters 💙
January 26 is Bell Let’s Talk Day. It is an important reminder that mental health matters—in our workplaces, our classrooms, and our community. For OSSTF BUSS and Brock University, we know that talking openly about mental health helps reduce stigma, build understanding, and create safer, more supportive environments for everyone.
Our members play a vital role in keeping Brock running, and that work can come with stress, pressure, and emotional demands. Bell Let’s Talk Day encourages us to check in with one another, listen without judgment, and remind each other that support is available—and that no one has to struggle alone.
How to Seek Support
If you or someone you know needs support, there are many ways to reach out:
- Talk to someone you trust, such as a coworker, union representative, friend, or family member
- Access workplace supports, including employee assistance programs or benefits-covered services
- Use campus and community resources, such as counselling or wellness services available through Brock University https://brocku.ca/health-wellness-accessibility/
- Contact your Women’s Advocates– OSSTF trained members who can support you to find the help you need
- Bell Let’s Talk Resources – https://letstalk.bell.ca/
- Reach out in urgent situations to appropriate on-campus or local emergency supports
Asking for help is a sign of strength, and support can make a real difference.
At Brock University, mental health is a shared responsibility. When staff, faculty, and students feel supported, the entire campus community benefits. Today—and every day—let’s keep the conversation going, look after ourselves, and look out for one another.
